GRAND JURORS – TERM XII
Hon. Eugene Faughan, Administrative Judge for the Sixth Judicial District, has issued an order CONTINUING the present Grand Jury term. You will be contacted personally by our office and informed of the particulars.
The bottom line – the Grand Jury will only be convened in exceptional cases, after permission is granted by our Courts.
We understand and truly appreciate the time and effort you have given on behalf of your community and will make every effort to minimize the impact that this continuance has on you and your families.
SIXTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT
Pursuant to the authority vested in me, and in accordance with the recent operational protocols issued by the Chief Administrative Judge for the trial courts of the
Unified Court System and
WHEREAS, New York State and the nation are now in the midst of an unprecedented public health crisis surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19 ( coronavirus ); and
WHEREAS, COVID-19 is known to be a highly infectious disease, and there is much community concern that large gatherings of people can result in greater public exposure to possible contagion or "community spread"; it is hereby
ORDERED that pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law§ 190.15 the Term of any currently seated grand jury is continued until such date as a new grand jury in the county is authorized to be impaneled by the Chief Administrator of the Courts; and it is further
ORDERED that pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law§ 190.20(6), and pursuant to the "good cause" provided by the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, the court may transfer grand jurors from one panel to another.

Please note the following:
Grand Jury is held on the 4th Floor of the George Harvey Justice Building located at 45 Hawley Street in Binghamton.
Grand Jury reporting days can be any day of the week and are usually no more than 3 days during a particular week.
If you need to call in an absence, have an emergency that prevents you from reporting or are running late, please contact the DA’s office at (607) 778-2425 as soon as possible on the day of reporting.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for time to go through security upon entering the building.
Parking is available and encouraged at metered parking around our building. There is a phone app called “Flowbird” that will allow you to pay online and add time as needed for the day.
Lunch is a one hour break approximately from 12 PM to 1 PM. There are several restaurants within walking distance if you choose. Jurors are welcome to remain in the Grand Jury Suite during their lunch break.If you have any additional questions, please contact the District Attorney's office at (607) 778-2425.
